Mind Wave Cave
The Neighbourhood were invited to submit a piece of work to the 2014 Design MCR 10×10 event titled The Science of Imagination.
Collaborating with Glue, who provided the lights and raspberry pi DMX interface, we decided to explore what we could do with a consumer level EEG device.
We used the data from the EEG to read peoples meditative and focused states of mind – we then converted these readings into either red (focus) or blue (meditative) light, a combination of both would give off a purple light. Clearing your mind, or concentrating on a problem, would show obvious differences in colour.
When people using the device get high readings in both meditation and focus – the lights respond with a visual burst of colours – this is what we have defined as the ‘imagination’ zone.
